ロンドンのThe HaywardギャラリーにてLAUGHING IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE展が開催中。本展はコンテンポラリーアートにおける笑いやユーモアを探るべく、世界中から選ばれた30のアーティストによる作品によって構成されている。
グローバリゼーションが進む中、果たして笑いやユーモアは、文化や歴史的背景、記憶を共有する者の間でしか通用しないものなのか？本展ではビデオ、写真、インスタレーションなどの80作品を通し、ユーモアを共有すること、そして個人の笑いを喚起するものは何かを問います。
日本からは会田誠、木村太陽、島袋道浩が参加、またJan Familyの中心人物でもあったNina Jan Beier & Marie Jan Lundも参加しています。キュレーションは同ギャラリーのインターナショナルキュレーターに着任した片岡真実。
An exhibition entitled LAUGHING IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE is currently showing at London’s The Hayward.
The exhibition explores the role of laughter and humour in contemporary art. In a time of increasing globalisation, this international exhibition questions if humour can only be appreciated by people with similar cultural, political or historical backgrounds and memories, or whether laughter can act as a catalyst for understanding the unfamiliar. Laughing in a Foreign Language investigates a whole spectrum of humour, from jokes, gags and slapstick to irony and satire. The exhibition brings together more than 70 videos, photographs and interactive installation works from 30 artists from all over the world.

札幌インタークロス・クリエイティブ・センター（ICC）にて、10日間に渡るThe Light Surgeonsのオーディオ・ビジュアル・ワークショップが開催。
数々の素晴らしい映像を手がけてきた、The Light Surgeons。本国UKにおいて、VJ文化の黎明期を牽引してきたとともに、今や世界的規模のデジタル映像フェスティバルとして確立された ‘onedotzero’の創世にも深く携わってきた、映像音楽実験集団が、ついに札幌上陸！
彼らが長年培ってきた、その先鋭的／前衛的映像手法でワークショップを引っぱり、インスピレーションを参加者とシェアしコラボレーションします！
今回は、特に映像と音というメディアを使っての作業がメインにはなりますが、基本的には「クリエイティブ・アドベンチャー」。読んで字のごとく、「創造という名の冒険」です。頭と心と体のあらゆる部分を使って、創るという冒険に出ていただきます。そこでは、技術も大切ですが、表現したいという欲求-感性はさらに大切です。
コンセプトは、今や世界的標語にもなった、’think globally, act locally’（地球的に考え、地方的に活動する）から派生して、’from global imagination, to local creation’（地球的に想像し、地方的に創造する）。世界で活躍するクリエイティブ・リーダーのThe Light Surgeonsのグローバルな視点を起点に「想像」し、札幌-北海道というローカルな土壌で「創造」します。
そしてテーマは、「地方生活と地球環境」「文化と文明の間で：’みんなの物語‘」です。
我々の現代生活は、近年増々、複雑に断片化されてきています。しかし、一方では、気候変動のように世界規模で繋がり協力し合わなければならない問題にも直面しています。今回は、特にUK-JAPAN　コラボレーションという枠組みで、これらの問題に取り組み、クリエーターたちの視点で題材を切り取り表現し、世界に対して発信を試みたいと思います。

International Creative Workshop @ ICC (Sapporo) which has been featuring such as Tomato, Rinzen and Airside , is going to host a cutting-edge multi-media workshop with The Light Surgeons from the UK.
The Light Surgeons, who have been creating many great audio visual works, is one of the leading teams in early VJ club culture in the UK and also involved in the dawn of world renown digital film festival ‘onedotzero’. This experimental audio visual squad is finally landing in Sapporo! They are going lead this workshop with their unique, longtime cultivated, avant-garde methods.
Seemingly audio & visual means are going to be the main media to be used, however please don’t forget that the basic idea is to have a ‘creative adventure’ together. We ask you to embark on the adventure of making things with your mind, heart and body to the fullest. The technique and craftsmanship may be required, but not more than the desire and sensibility to create and express.
Derived from the famous words ‘ think globally, act locally’, the concept of this workshop is ‘from global imagination to local creation’. Worldly active The Light Surgeons inspires the imagination to bring about the creation within the local Sapporo, Hokkaido.
The theme is going to be ‘local living & global environment’ and ‘between culture and civilization: everyone’s story’.
The contemporary urban milieu seem to push us into the life of alienation and fragmentation more and more everyday. On the other hand, there is the apparent crisis such as drastic climate changes, which we must face and act together in global basis. The workshop wants to tackle the living conundrum under the name of UK-JAPAN collaboration by cutting through the problems with creators eyes and consequently send out the end results to the world.

2月15日(金)より、Revelations/（レベレーションズ）にてやぶのけんせいと、イシカワダイスケによるインスタレーションユニット、 Life is Just a Situationの国内初となる展覧会「LAST PATROL」が開催。
Revelations/ の今期のセレクトテーマである「ミリタリー」を再解釈したタイトル
「LAST PATROL」には、もともと第二次大戦終期に連合軍がヨーロッパを巡回した際に
収容所などを発見したという話があり、その「LAST PATROL」をポジティブな
発想に変換し、日々の生活における新しい発見や感動を再確認することの重要性を
今回の展示では表現しています。彼らの創り出した世界をパトロールすることで
あなたもきっと新たな発見と出会うはず。

個々にヨーロッパでの活動を得た二人が、「 Life is Just a Situation＝
世の中で姿形が見えない物の重要性」に対し、Twisted mindなコンセプチャル
