GAS AS I/Fがプロデュースするブランド、20,000,000 fragments〈トゥエンティミリオンフラグメンツ〉の2008 S/Sコレクション展示会が西麻布Calm & Punk Galleryにて行われました。
これらのアイテムが店頭に並ぶのは少々先になりますが、今日は一足先にそのコレクションの一部をご紹介します！
The fashion brand produced by Gas As Interface, 20,000,000 fragments had its exhibition for the 2008 S/S collection at Calm & Punk Gallery. Here is a sneak preview of the collection!

今シーズンのテーマは、先シーズンのテーマ、<相反性>を掘り下げ、１着の中にある意外性に充ちた「驚き」と「愉しみ」をコレクションアイテムに落し込みました。トラッドと民族服、２つのモチーフのテイストを対比させながら、20,000,000 fragmentsの特徴であるこだわりのオリジナル素材、エクスペリメンタルで精度の高いパターン、プリント、色など、様々な方法でシーズンテーマを表現しました。ブレザーなどの定番デザインと民族服のイメージをMIXさせ、１つのアイテムの中で調和させる事によって、20,000,000 fragmentsが考える新しい服を提案します。

This season’s collection re-examines last season’s theme of ‘antithetical’.
The collection reveals unexpected elements of surprise and enjoyment co-existing in the same item.
The collection’s theme is portrayed through the use of experimental, yet high-quality, pattern-making techniques, prints and colours, and contrasts two different approaches, trad and ethnic.
20,000,000 fragments defines its idea of ‘new clothing’ by blending elements from ethnic clothes into everyday items such as blazers.

ロンドンのデザインコレクティブÅbäkeがand cornersに続き二冊目となるファニチャーデザイナーMartino Gamperの作品集の編集とデザインを手がけました。
100 Chairs in 100 Daysは不用になっていた既存の椅子の要素を再構成し新たに100の椅子を100日間で作り出すというMartino Gamperのプロジェクト。ロンドンのDesign Museumで約1年前、Confronting the chairと題して展示も行われました。
London-based design collective Åbäke have designed and edited 100 Chairs in 100 Days and its 100 Ways, a book for Martino Gamper, furniture designer. This is the second Martino Gamper book from Åbäke.
In his 100 Chairs in 100 Days project, Gamper created 100 new chairs in 100 days using elements of kindly donated discarded chairs. The project was on show at London’s Design museum last year, entitled Confronting the chair.
こちらの作品集 100 Chairs in 100 Days and its 100 Waysでは100の椅子達の写真と解説に加え、Martino Gamper本人によるテキスト、そしてRon Arad、Emily King、Michael Marriot、Alex Rich、Åbäkeなどの寄稿もあり、ボリュームのある一冊となっています。
100 Chairs in 100 Days and its 100 Ways includes words from Gamper himself, as well as from notable designers and critics such as Ron Arad, Emily King, Michael Marriot, Alex Rich and Åbäke.

やさしい手触りの紙に所々二色印刷を使った美しいトーンのビジュアルが映えるだけでなく、テーマにあわせて100ページの構成、そして中央の49ページから52ページまではあえて製本されず、挟み込まれているだけという遊びも効いています。実はこの挟み込まれたページは出版記念パーティーの招待状となっており、発売に先駆けて配布されていたとのこと。つまり、招待を受けた人には作品集から4ページのみが少しだけ早くお披露目となり、パーティーで残りの本編を手にすることによって作品集の全貌が明らかになるという仕掛けでもあったのです。
Printed on soft paper, both the 4-colour and 2-colour pictures of the chairs look beautiful. The number of pages totals 100, to match the concept of the project itself. The pages in the centre (from 49 to 52) are not bound but simply inserted.
In fact, these pages were actually invitations for the book launch, forming a special 4 page extract of the book for those people who were invited.

Åbäke and Martino Gamper continue to work together on various projects and this book seems to be another beautiful marriage of the two’s talents and sympathetic approach.
