パリのデザインデュオ、VIER5の手掛けるファッションマガジン『FAIRY TALE』の最新号が出ました。今号は『SUPPLEMENT COSMETIC』というコスメの別冊もついています。
The latest issue of a fashion magazine produced by Parisian design duo VIER5, “FAIRY TALE” is now out. This issue will come with an additional volume named SUPPLEMENT COSMETIC featuring cosmetics.

2007年1月21日、国立新美術館にCIBONEのプロデュースするミュージアムショップ「SOUVENIR FROM TOKYO」がオープンしました。
スターデザイナーと無名アーティスト、エレガントなものとジャンクなもの ーあらゆるものが渾然一体となって並べられており、世界中から様々な人やモノが集まる街、東京のカオティックなエネルギーをそのまま凝縮したかのようなショップとなっています。
25日に開催された、その「SOUVENIR FROM TOKYO」のオープニングパーティーの模様をリポートします。
A museum shop at THE NATIONAL ART CENTER TOKYO produced by CIBONE, “SOUVENIR FROM TOKYO” opened on January 21st, 2007. 
The shop would give you the chaotic energy of Tokyo city where people and things coming from all over the world. Junk art, elegant art, and all kinds of items designed by well-known and unknown designers, are all united and lined up in the shop.

鉄腕アトム、宇宙戦艦ヤマト、ガンダム、AKIRA…など、世界に誇る”ジャパニーズ・カルチャー”の品々。国立のミュージアムショップで漫画やプラモデルが並べられている事を想像できますか？
Astro boy, Space Battleship Yamato, GUNDAM, AKIRA and etc… Can you imagine such cartoons and plastic models are lined up at a shop in National museum?

当日は多くの人が駆けつけており、なかなか全貌を伝えられる写真が撮れなかったのですが、そのまさにカオスな全貌は実際に行って確かめてみてみないとわからないかもしれません。
また、ショップの入り口には若手アーティストのためのギャラリースペースが今春オープン予定です。
When I visited the shop, it was a big crowd, and I couldn’t take much photos to show you the entire picture of the shop. But you might know the very chaotic atmosphere if you actually go there!
Also, some gallery space for emerging artists will be opened at the shop entrance in this Spring.

Long-established Magazine KURASHI-NO-TECHO has kept being out as a general lifestyle magazine for more than half a century since the first publication in 1948. KURASHI-NO-TECHO is famous for not accepting insertion or any commercial ads. 
They have Yatarou Matsuura who’s known for COW BOOKS as their new chief editor, and relaunched the magazine. The first issue of the new series was released. 
From January 27th to February 10th, there will be talkshows & book signing with Yatarou Matsuura in many places in Japan.

ニューヨークを拠点に活躍しているフォトグラファー/フィルムメーカーのPeter Sutherlandの展覧会がオランダのMU Foundationにて1/27から2/25まで開催されます。Peter Sutherlandはこれまでにバイクメッセンジャーやアマチュアサッカー選手、グラフィティアーティストなどDIY(Do-it-yourself)世代へ強い影響を与えた人達の写真を撮り続けており、作品はこれまでにi-DやVice、Tokionなどに紹介される他、パリのColetteやメルボルンのSomeday、東京ではBathing Ape Galleryでの個展も開催してきました。
この『Game』という名の展覧会では、Peter自身も所属する、サッカーを愛するニューヨークのアーティストやデザイナー、詩人などで構成されている「チャイナタウン・サッカー・クラブ」の写真シリーズが展示されます。
またこの展覧会に合わせて、同タイトルの『Game』という作品集がNievesから出版されます。

An Exhibition by New York-based photographer/film maker Peter Sutherland will be taking place at MU Foundation in Holland from January 27 to February 25.  Peter Sutherland has been photographing people who’s given striking impact for the do-it-yourself generation, such as bike messengers, amateur soccer players and graffiti artists.
His photographs have been introduced in major magazines, i-D, Vice, and Tokion and so on. Besides, the exhibitions have been hold in places such as Colette(Paris), Someday(Melbourne) and Bathing Ape Gallery in Tokyo. 
In this exhibition entitled “Game”, you can see a selection of photographs of the New York based Chinatown Soccer Club, of which Sutherland himself is a member. The club consists of  artists, designers, poets and local fellow friends, who have in common the passion for football.
Also, the Book with the same title “Game”, will be published by Nieves for the exhibition.

Artbook “Quarter” by Akiyoshi Mishima has been published by Enlightenment Publishing. It is a spectacular collection book. In this book, you will see digital paintings and masks which used to be shown in his exhibition in NANZUKA UNDERGROUND in end of the year 2006.

イギリスの映像制作エージェンシー、Not To Scaleに所属する5名の映像ディレクターがVolvoの新しい車のキャンペーンのために16個の映像を制作しました。このプロジェクトには『Atmosphere 03』で紹介したRachel Thomasも参加しており、彼女は3つの映像作品を制作しました。
このキャンペーンは、車の広告に対するあらゆるイメージや古い慣習を全て取り去り、見る人にVolvoの新しいC30 – A product of Free Will（自由な意志による商品）のデザインに対する率直な意見を聞く、というもの。TVCMは今のところイギリスとアメリカでのみの放映で、日本での放映は未定ですが、ウェブサイトにて全ての映像が見れる他、オンラインゲームなども楽しめます。

Five animation directors at Not To Scale, London based Film Production Company, created sixteen animated films for UK Agency Fuel for the launch campaign of the new Volvo C30 car. Rachel Thomas, who has been featured in our magazine “Atmosphere 03″ joined this project, and directed three of the films.
It’s a multi-media campaign based on the idea of stripping away all the visual codes and conventions of car advertising, and having an honest opinion from the audience about the design of the car, The new Volvo C30 – also being “A product of Free Will.”
The films are not yet planned to be aired in Japan, and now only be aired in England and America, but you can check out all the films on the website.

“Design of Motion”をテーマに期間限定オープンしたGINZA MAZDA CX-7ショールームで雑誌『BRUTUS』とギャラリーROCKET（現在休廊中・同名のフリーペーパーで活動中）と7名のアーティストの協力のもと、来場者参加型アート企画「ジン・ラブ。」が開催されます。７名のアーティストが、ドローイング、写真、CG、コラージュなどあらゆる手法でユニークに表現した約40点の作品を素材に、来場者自身がその場で思うままにセルフエディットし、Canonのプロダクション複合機を使って自分だけのFANZINE(=インディーズマガジン／A4サイズ・全16ページ・オールカラー)を作ることができます。
また、ギャラリーROCKETのホームページもリニュアルオープンしたようです。

GINZA MAZDA CX-7 SHOWROOM is temporarily opened with the theme “Design of Motion.”
BRUTUS Magazine, teamed up with the Gallery ROCKET and 7 artists, will be holding an exhibition “ZINE LOVE.” (*Gallery ROCKET is closed for the moment, but active as free paper.)
This is an art project you can actually participate in.  There are about 40 artworks – drawing, photo, CG, collage, etc – by upcoming and down-to-earth artists having various roots. You can edit with it as you like, and you can make your own fanzine ( =indipendent magazine / A4 sized, 16 pages, all color), using Canon’s machine .
