Atmosphereでは、フランス出身ロンドン在住のアートディレクターDAMIEN POULAINのTotemシリーズのCLASKA HOTELで行われた展示模様を報告いたします。

Atmosphere would like to feature the "Totem"exhibition of the LONDON based French artist Damien Poulain which was held at CLASKA HOTEL.

展示風景：

呪術的なシンボルとして使われているTotemをDAMIENがコンテンポラリーなテーマを元に再解釈し、現代的なイコンをかたどっています。彼がピックアップするイコンは、ガソリンスタンドのshellのマークであったり、ピカチューであったりと、一つ一つが別の国の現代の象徴的なイコンです。その一つ一つを、思わず覗き込んでしまいます。

TOTEM is a symbol of the Mystical matter however what Poulain did was to translate and reconstructed the symbol of it into the conteporary icon. The Icon he picked up was shell (Gas shop), pokemon character "Pikachu" and so on... Each icon has different meaning on to it and it makes us look into it carefully.

DAMIENは多くのグラフィックワークも手掛けており、その中でも日本で知られているのがUNIQLO PAPERで都市をテーマにした紙を切り抜いて作成したグラフィックです。彼は、この手法で独自のグラフィックの見せ方を編み出しています。

Damien Has been working on numerous graphic project. And out of all the great works, his work done for the UNIQLO paper is known among Japanese audience. He cut out the parts of graphic which was made under the theme of the "CITY". This technique, original and stunning, appears on his other works.

Atmosphere would like to feature the art show, "Michael, Kevin & Geoff", opened on November 7th at HVW8 (Heavy Weight) Gallery. The show featured the new work of Michael Leon, Kevin Lyons and Geoff McFetridge. Since they were old friends and used to work together they were happy to meet again for a fantastic group show. There were incredible pieces that drew many people to the opening. The show runs until December 20th so you should definitely check it out if you're in LA.

ロサンジェルスはメルローズ・アベニューにあるギャラリーHVW8（ヘビーウェイト）にて１１月７日（土）に行われたアートショー「MICHAEL, KEVIN & GEOFF」はその名の通り、マイケル・レオン、ケビン・ライオンズそしてジェフ・マクフェトリッジというアメリカのストリート・アートを長年にわたって支えてきた３人のアーティストによるグループ展である。この３人は昔からの旧友でもあり、駆け出しの頃からお互いを認めあってきた仲間でもあるため、昔を懐かしみながらも、こうして再会し、また一緒に展示ができることをとても楽しそうに取組んでいた。中にはコラボ作品もあり、マイケルが用意した未完成の作品に対し、ジェフとケビンがその場で筆を入れて完成したものもあった。彼らは別々のキャリアを積み今では各シーンでれぞれ大活躍しているが、今回の再会を祝うためオープニング・パーティにはかつての仲間達が勢揃いした。

PETER SUTHERLANDとP.A.M.のMISHA HOLLENBACHによるジーンマガジン「SNAP!」が PAMBOOKS (http://www.pambook.com/)とPSPress から発刊されます。これに伴いGALLERY TARGETでは2人の展覧会「SNAP!」を開催いたします。

PETER SUTHERLAND and MISHA HOLLENBACH from P.A.M. is releaseing the zine called "SNAP" and it will be sold in PAMBOOKS(http://www.pambook.com/) and PSPress. Along side with the lauch, GALLERY TARGET will host an exhibition called "SNAP!" to coincide it`s launch.

＊今回の展示を一番見せたかったのは誰ですか？
who did you wanted to show your new work the most?

こんにちわ。
特定の誰というのは無いです。一人でも多くの人に見てほしいといつも思ってます。ポップなフィールドで僕のような作家がどこまで勝負できるのかを挑戦したいと思っています。

あえて言うなら、自分かも。いま自分がどこまで出来るのかを現実的に見たかったし。

hello!
Actually, I do not want to decide who I want to show my work the most. I always wanted to show my work to many people as possible. I am challenging myself to how much I can get in to the field of POP. If I had to put it to the word, I just wanted to see how much I can make evrything happened in real.

＊今回の、展示でSHOHEI TAKASAKIとしてアーティスト活動にどのような変化を
与えましたか？

What kind of effect was there for you as SHOHEI TAKASAKI through this exhibition?

う～～～～ん。
基本的な姿勢は変わらないけど、今回の展示でもほんと色んな人達と出会って、僕の作品に対して真剣に向き合ってくれて、意見なんかを言ってくれる人達と話すのはエキサイティングでしたよやっぱり。なるほど、と思う事もあったし。
いままで通り感情を爆発させていきたいです。

Well.... I don`t think my fundamental attitude changed through this exhivition but it was exciting to know that there are so many people who gave me oppinion and thought about my work seriously. There was oppinion that I could strongly agreed with. I would like to continue exploding my emotion through my work.

＊展示をやってみて、今後こんなことにチャレンジしたいなど、新しい目標ができましたか？

Is there any new aim or challenge that you would like to do in the future?

まだまだ、始まったばかり。
平面でも立体でも、突き進めるのりしろは相当残っています。
描き続けようと思っています。楽しみです。

It has just began.
there are still some room for me to try sculptural work or 3D work.
I am thinking of continue to painting.
And I am enjoyning the most.

What would be your message to the world!

本当にいろいろな国で発表をしていきたい。
いままで僕が訪れた国々でも、たくさんの面白い経験をしてきた。
突き進みたいですね。僕は。

I would like to exhibit my work in different countries.
I had many intersting experience in the countries I have ever visited.
I just want to go forward, I think.

Atmosphere is pleased to introduce the Lancashire born artist Anothony Burrill who graduated Royal College of Art, MA(RCA), graphic design course in 1991.

今回のアトモスでは、イギリスのランカシャーで生まれで、1991年にロンドンのロイヤルカレッジオブアートのグラフィックデザインコースを卒業した、アーティスト『アンソニーブリル』を紹介いたします。

Anthony Burrill is an independent designer and illustrator who works in a broad range of activities, including print, film and exhibitions. After studying Graphic Design at Leeds Polytechnic he completed an MA in Graphic Design at the Royal College of Art, London. Where he created his now trademark technique for direct communication.
アンソニーブリルは、インディペンデントのデザイナー / イラストレーターで、プリント、映画、エキシビジョンなど、幅広い分野の仕事を手掛けています。イギリスのリーズでグラフィックデザインを勉強した後、ロンドンのロイヤルカレッジオブアートの大学院のコースでグラフィックデザイン専攻し、卒業しました。在学をきっかけに、彼が現在手掛ける仕事の中でしばしばみられる、ダイレクトコミュニケーションのツールであるトレードマークの技術を得ました。

Anthony’s uncomplicated style stems from his appreciation for simplicity, which was formed in his early handcrafted photocopy books. He has designed advertising campaigns for London Underground, DIESEL, Nike, Bupa amongst others, including the cult Hans Brinker Budget Hotel campaign. He has also produced web-based projects for bands such as Kraftwerk and Air, murals for Bloomberg, Priestman Goode and recently designed the identity for Kessel Kramer’s inaugural London base – KK OUTLET.

アンソニーの複雑でない作品の手法は、彼のシンプルなものに対しての敬意の表れです。この手法は、彼が作家活動を初めてまもなくの頃に画像をコピーでプリントし、手で本を作っていた頃に編みだしています。アンソニーが今まで手掛けてきたクライアントには、ロンドンの地下鉄、DIESEL、 Nike、 Bupa などや、Hans Brinker Budget Hotel などがいます。その他にウェブを中心としたプロジェクトのプロデュースも行っています。例えば、Kraftwerk 、Airなどのミュージシャン。壁画のプロジェクトでは、Bloomberg、Priestman Goodeなどがいます。また、最近コーポレートアイデンティティーを Kessel Krameの London にしかないアウトレットの為に作成しました。その名も『KK OUTLET』。ロンドンにお寄りの際は、是非チェックして下さい。

アンソニーの最近のエキシビションは、ロンドンのビスケットビルでMichael Marriottとのコラボレーションで行われた"The Right Kind of Wrong"や、パリのコレットで行った“Geometry in Nature”、ロスアンジェルスのChiat Dayで行った‘I Like It Here’展、 ロンドンのKemistry Galleryで行った‘In a New Place’などがあります。
今後、ますます目が離せません。

Matt Furie EXHIBITION ”Monster Family”

BEAMS Tにて、イラストレーターMatt Furie のEXHIBITIONを開催されます。Mattは、これまでに“RVCA”や”Alakazam!”にイラストを提供しているサンフランシスコ出身のアーティストです。今回のエキシビジョンでは、モンスターや動物人間、不思議な生き物の家族や子供をテーマにした、不思議な作品が揃っています。
＊初日には、サンフランシスコよりMatt Furie が来日いたします。

From 9th of October, BEAMS T will held exhibition of the Sanfrancisco Illustrator Matt Furie. Matt is an artist / illustrator who has been providing illustration to the "RVCA" or "Alakazam!". His eccentric creature, kids and family monster, animal-human being will be able to see at this show. In the first day, Matt himself will visit Japan from Francisco.

ABOUT MATT FURIE：
79年オハイオ州コロンバス生まれ。デラウェアにあるオハイオ・ウェスレヤン大学を2001年に卒業。現在はサンフランシスコを拠点に活動中。好きなことは、絵を描くこと、ダンス、自転車に乗ること、YouTubeを観ることそしてワインをたまにちびちび。サンフランシスコ、ニューヨーク、LA、ヨーロッパやオーストラリアで個展やグループ展に参加しており、拠点はサンフランシスコに置いている。雑誌「Juxtapoz」「XLR8R」「Fader」などでも作品が紹介されている。また、Buenaventuraより、「BOY`s Club」というコミックシリーズが発行されています。

Matt Furie was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1979. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio in 2001. Matt is a leo, he enjoys long walks in the park, bubble baths, and an occasional glass of wine. He currently lives in San Francisco. His work has been introduced in "Juxtapoz", "XLR8R" and "Fader". His comic series “Boy’s Club” is published by Buenaventura Press.
